Surgical Services

All routine surgical procedures can be performed as well as many specialized surgical procedures on dogs, cats, and horses.

Any surgical procedure that requires general anesthesia has some amount of risk, depending on the overall health and age of the animal. However, today's anesthetics are very safe, depth of anesthesia is closely monitored, and all anesthetized animals receive intravenous fluids for support of circulation before, during, and after the procedure.

Also, pre-anesthetic blood work is recommended on all anesthetic procedures and can be done in our lab the morning of surgery. This pre-anesthetic blood work gives us more information as to your pet's overall health by checking liver and kidney function, glucose level, red and white blood cell count for evidence of anemia or infection, and platelet count for blood clotting ability.
