Surgical Services

Any surgical procedure that requires general anesthesia has some amount of risk, depending on the overall health and age of the animal. However, today’s anesthetics are very safe. The depth of anesthesia is monitored closely, and all anesthetized animals receive intravenous fluids to support circulation before, during, and after the procedure.

Also, pre-anesthetic blood work is recommended on all anesthetic procedures and can be done in our lab the morning of surgery. This pre-anesthetic blood work gives us more information on your pet’s overall health by checking liver and kidney function, glucose level, red and white blood cell count for evidence of anemia or infection, and platelet count for blood clotting ability.
